Professional Production Skills

GSA students are equipped to enter the industry because they possess the necessary technical skills and are able to integrate intelligently and sympathetically within a production team whilst retaining personal and professional integrity. Equally important is their confidence, which allows them to question, enquire and take responsibility for their own development.

The School of Production oversees the Stage Management, Design & Technical Theatre training, as well as producing all GSA's public performances. The full-time staff and part-time tutors are all experienced in their fields and have worked, or currently work, in the industry as Stage Management, Lighting and Sound Designers, prop-makers, carpenters etc.

Anything Goes 2008GSA's theatre are well-equipped with professional-standard lighting and sound equipment including a full range of intelligent and generic luminaires.  Productions also take place in Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud Theatre and Mill Studio; the Electric Theatre; and Showcase productions in a London venue.

Directors and Designers
Students are exposed to contemporary production methods and varying styles of rehearsal through working with GSA staff directors and the many distinguished directors and designers who come to work at the School.

Production Staff and Visiting Tutors
GSA has an experienced team of tutors working on the course, each with specialised knowledge of production processes and the media industry.  In addition to the classes given by the resident staff, tuition in specialist areas is given by visiting tutors working in the profession.
